There is an old saying in China,
" If you eat 3 red jujubes everyday, you will never get old."
Chinese red date (Jujube fruit ) has been cultivated in China for more than 4,000 years.
Jujubes have been used from ancient time to enhance people's health across Asia, mainly China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and South Korea.
Goji-berries and Chinense red dates both help to restore liver and kidney functions and rejuvenate the blood, improve sleep, release menstrual pain and work for general anti-ageing. It also contains vitamin C more than grapes and apples and it is especially the best to drink in winter as it has warming properties. In Chinese medicine, Jujube is also often recommended as a form of treatment for anxiety.
I will introduce a great tea with Chinese red dates, Goji- berries and ginger that has been drunk very commonly in their daily life across Asia. I was introduced this tea 11 years ago by one of my Chinese friends and I am still fan of this tea.
How to choose good Chinese dates
Unfortunately a recent study published in science of the Total Environment found that pesticide contamination in jujubes grown in China was high and some was exceeded the maximum pesticide residue limit for China, therefore it is the best if you can find organic(有機)products as to avoid pesticides in Chinese red dates. However organic ones are not so easy to find. If you can't find organic Chinese dates, no problem, there is a way to remove pesticide residue. You can use apple cider vinegar to remove pesticide residue.
